NOW MOVED TO CORSCOMBE

Saturday, 30 August 2025
Despite the rain and high winds making it necessary to move the fete indoors with the flower show and a reduced number of stalls, there was a fantastic turnout. There was still the bottle tombola (a complete sell-out), cake stall (also a sell-out!), silent auction (all lots were bid for), tea 'tent' (nothing much left!), photographic competition (some really stunning entries), plant stall (couldn't get near it), art exhibition (so much local talent) and the tea 'tent' (nothing much left!). A really lovely social community event.

The Coronation Lunch
Sunday, 7 May 2023
The marquees went up, the bunting was fluttering and the music was rocking. By 1 o’clock friends and neighbours had gathered to dress their tables and enjoy a shared picnic. The noise levels rose and it was joyful to hear the babble of voices, laughter and music. The Halstock Coronation Big Lunch was under way!
The table decorations were extremely imaginative and as there was a prize for the best dressed table, it made the judge’s decision very difficult. Halstock Village Shop kindly donated a delicious hamper for the first prize which was awarded to ‘the Halletts’ for their inventive display and pretty garlands. Runners up were Marriotts Farm Cottages – absolutely brilliant! In between all the chatter, there was a chance to play the Coronation table quiz and a new Halstock board game – Halstock Community Chest. The only thing that couldn’t be organised was the weather…. and weren’t we lucky! It stayed dry all day and the children were able to enjoy the games that had been organised in the field.
Music, food, drinks and good company made for a relaxed and happy afternoon. A big thank you to everyone who joined in the fun and to all the organisers who made it happen. Truly a special day to remember.
