Royal British Legion

The Halstock Branch of the Legion was officially closed on the afternoon of Saturday 2nd of December when a good number of people gathered at St Juthware & St Mary church. We were pleased to welcome a representative from the county committee as well as members from the Beaminster Branch of the Legion. Our standard Bearer was flanked by two escorts down the aisle where The Standard was handed to the Rev. Daniel Ingles for safe keeping by the church. This may be the end of the Halstock Branch but we still have a Poppy Appeal Organiser so we will still be raising funds in the years to come.
POPPY APPEAL 2025

For the Poppy Appeal we cover places as far afield as Closworth, Frome St. Quintin and Mosterton. In many villages there are kind volunteers who do door to door collecting. In addition to that collecting boxes are put in two schools, two hotels, three shops, three pubs and several other places at Wardon Hill and Closworth. I would like to record my thanks to all the people who have helped make this year’s Poppy Appeal so successful. The total raised this year was £2,681.62

Also, a huge thank you to Ross Kanter who created a wonderful window in the shop, it really did make people stop and look. We always have a coffee morning on the Friday nearest to Remembrance Weekend, this year the November 7th, and as last year, we decided to have it in the Community Room behind the shop. It would have been nice to see more people join us, but it still made just under £100.

Many thanks to everybody.
